Sidelights

Lynne F. Chapman once told SATA: "Because both of my parents taught English, it was probably inevitable that I, after a proper period of teenage rebelliousness, would want to have a lot to do with books. Publishing seemed an obvious career choice, so I spent several years after college moving from one small publishing company to another as my husband pursued his academic career at various universities. Then I decided to take up freelance editing, not coincidentally before the birth of my first child, and I have worked at home ever since. While living in Minnesota, I was asked to try writing for a small, upmarket publisher of beautiful educational books. I wrote my first book with equal parts nervousness and delight, and three more followed. Now we have settled overseas, in Cardiff, Wales, and as my children get older, I hope to have more time for writing—although those nerves just won't go away!"
