Matt Donnelly told SATA: "Theodore Roosevelt: Larger than Life began with an arrogant thought. I was walking through the Monterey Public Library in California, and I came across some books on Theodore Roosevelt. After I leafed through some of them, I thought, 'I could write a better book than these.' That began a two-year project that resulted in the publication of my book.

"When I'm not writing, I'm either teaching (literature, history, philosophy, and drama), reading dusty old books, or spending quality time with my wife and daughter. I have a lot of interests, but my great escape is listening to Red Sox baseball games on the radio during sweltering Maine summers. I'm not sure which will come first: my first Pulitzer Prize or a Red Sox World Series championship (maybe neither one).

"I'm sure there's another book in me, but I'm still considering several topics that interest me."
