Below are some of the authors and illustrators that will be featured in upcoming volumes of SATA. *Nancy White Carlstrom ▮ Carlstrom is the author of the popular "Jesse Bear" series, which is illustrated by Bruce Degen and features such titles as Where Is Christmas, Jesse Bear? and Jesse Bear, What Will You Wear? Carlstrom presents hopeful, humorous picture and board books for very young readers, as well as books with simple vocabulary and subjects ranging from counting and colors to more sophisticated topics like inter-generational and multicultural relationships.

*Brian Doyle ▮ Among Canada's most distinguished authors of middle-grade and young-adult novels, Doyle is acclaimed as an exceptional storyteller as well as a talented writer whose works reflect both insight and sensitivity in depicting the moral dilemmas of young people. Doyle's novels, which include Uncle Ronald, Mary Ann Alice, Covered Bridge and You Can Pick Me up at Peggy's Cove, depict teens coming of age as they confront personal strife and social injustice, drawing on their inner strength to come to terms with the chaos around them.

*Paul Fleischman ▮ Fleischman is a Newbery Award-winning author of books for both children and young adults. He blends musical language with quirky looks at the world as viewed through the lens of human and natural history. Fleischman's subject-matter has ranged from the insect world to a bloody U.S. Civil War battle, the limitations of medicine, a world turned upside-down, or a class trip that is transformed into a time-travel expedition.

*Eva Ibbotson ▮ Vienna-born British writer Ibbotson works in two markedly different areas of fiction: tongue-in-cheek ghost stories for a young-adult audience; and adult romances that are frequently set in her hometown during the early part of the twentieth century. Ibbotson's books for younger readers have gained her a large following among both British and American readers due to her imaginative plots and clever dialogue.

Carolyn Mackler ▮ Mackler grew up in western New York state in a house of storytellers. Her first novel Love and Other Four-Letter Words, is a coming-of-age story about sixteen-year-old Sammie Davis, whose parents are going through a trial separation. Mackler's focus on real teenage and young adult issues resonate with her following of readers.

*Robert Newton Peck ▮ Beginning with his first title in 1972, A Day No Pigs Would Die, Peck has carved out a territory in young adult fiction for himself. Peck's works engage serious themes, portraying adolescents in their struggles on the cusp of adulthood. Teachers often appear in Peck's fiction where they serve as supporting and life-affirming role models.

*Chris Van Allsburg ▮ Two-time Caldecott Medal-winner Van Allsburg has drawn readers into a magical, even surreal, world through his illustrated picture books, which include Jumanji and its sequel, Zathura. His most popular book, The Polar Express, has become a Christmas classic around the world, and was made into a feature film in 2004.

*Rosemary Wells ▮ Author and illustrator Wells has been praised for creating delightful picture and board books; candid, incisive young adult novels; and well-received adaptations of classic tales in picture-book form. Wells addresses such genres as realistic fiction, fantasy, and a blend of the two as well as historical fiction, biography, the mystery story, the school story, and the psychological novel.
